The Element of Air

The Arts of ritual design, preparation, and post-interpretation represent the element of Air with its emphasis on thinking, concentration, and imagination.  While it is true that sometimes you will spontaneously move into a ritual feeling and go with the flow, I find that planning a ritual that will facilitate a powerful, consistent flow of energy is the most beneficial.  The planning process prepares your psyche and your body for the experience. 

Have you heard the saying from the computer world, “garbage in, garbage out?”  The same applies for ritual: scattered planning and execution, scattered results.  The topics in this section focus more on “how to design ritual” whereas the topic in the Spirituality section focus more on “why.”
